How is an ECTS weighted average calculated?

Each grade is multiplied by the course's ECTS credits, the products are added and divided by the total credits, so a course worth 6 credits counts twice as much as one worth 3. For grades 8, 9 and 10 with 6, 6 and 3 credits the weighted average is 8.8 over 15 credits. You can change the grade range, and the result is not converted to a US GPA.

METHOD

Formula and method

Average = sum(grade × ECTS) / sum(ECTS).
