How do you calculate the area of a room?

For a rectangular room the calculator multiplies length by width, for a triangle it multiplies base by height and halves it, and for a circle it uses π times the radius squared. You enter lengths in metres or feet and get the result in both square metres and square feet. A 4 × 3.5 m room is 14 m². For an irregular room, split the plan into rectangles and triangles and add the results.
