How do you calculate 1RM?

The Brzycki formula divides the load from your set by 1.0278 minus 0.0278 times the number of repetitions. If you lifted 100 lb five times with good form, the 1RM estimate is about 112.51 lb, and a single repetition returns the load you entered. It works for 1 to 10 repetitions of the same exercise and technique and does not mean attempting that weight is safe, so make maximal attempts with a spotter.

METHOD

Formula and method

Brzycki: load / (1.0278 − 0.0278 × repetitions). One completed repetition returns the entered load.
