Full disclaimerFor a root, enter the number and the root degree, and for a power, the number and the exponent. The nth root is the real number x for which xⁿ = a, so the cube root of 27 is 3. An odd root of a negative number is allowed, so the cube root of −27 is −3, while an even root of a negative number is not real. Negative or decimal exponents work whenever the result is a real number, except zero raised to a zero or negative power.
