How do you split the cost of a car trip?

The calculator doubles the one way distance for a return trip, works out the fuel needed from consumption in L/100 km and multiplies it by the fuel price per litre. It then adds the tolls and parking you enter and divides the total by the number of travellers. For 150 km each way with 7 L/100 km and 2.50 KM per litre, fuel costs 52.50 KM, and with 20 KM of tolls and parking the cost for each of two travellers is 36.25 KM.

METHOD

Formula and method

Fuel = total km × L/100 km / 100. Cost = fuel × price + entered tolls.
