How much electricity does an EV charge use?

The calculator multiplies usable battery capacity by the change in charge level and divides by charging efficiency to get the energy drawn from the grid. Charging a 60 kWh battery from 20% to 80% at 90% efficiency takes 40 kWh, which at 0.30 KM per kWh costs 12 KM and takes about 5.6 hours at 7.2 kW. Add any session fee yourself, and allow for slower charging at high charge levels in the average power you enter.

METHOD

Formula and method

Grid energy = capacity × charge change / efficiency.
